First edit
Getting started with PhotoCraft: your first edit
Make one simple cover image before tackling a complex PSD. The goal is to finish a complete edit and reopen both the project and the shared image.
1. Prepare a small practice document
Install the official package for your platform and record the version. Choose a modest JPEG or PNG you own. Duplicate it into a practice folder and keep the original untouched.
Open the copy through the app’s file-opening command. Check its dimensions and orientation before changing anything. If you see a warning, record it now so it does not get confused with a later editing problem.
2. Add a title on its own layer
Find the text tool and add a short title. Choose a font installed on your device that supports your text. Put the title on a separate layer so you can move or revise it without changing the photograph.
Inspect the layer panel, toggle the title’s visibility and confirm which layer is selected. If the title looks wrong, check the font and selected layer before changing the entire document. The workspace guide explains the document, canvas view and panel roles.
3. Save, export and reopen
- Save a new working file in the editable format offered by your version. Give it a name distinct from the source image.
- Reopen that saved project. Check that the title is still editable and the photo is intact.
- Produce a PNG through the available export command. Check the requested dimensions and transparency.
- Open the PNG in a separate viewer and inspect text, cropping and colour.
The project is for future editing; the PNG is for sharing. Keep both. If you need a layered handoff, follow the PSD saving checklist rather than assuming an export preserves layers.
