PhotoCraft alternatives: choose by the task

An alternative is useful when it fits the job you need to do. Raster photo editing, browser editing and vector illustration are different jobs.

Three different directions

ToolWhat to investigateOfficial source
GIMPAn open-source desktop image editor for raster editing and retouching.GIMP website (opens a new tab)
PhotopeaA browser-based editor offering layered editing and PSD support.Photopea website (opens a new tab)
VectorCraftA sibling Crafting App focused on vector illustration, rather than a direct photo-editor replacement.PhotoCraft and VectorCraft

These are directions to evaluate, not a ranked review. We have not run a controlled hands-on comparison of these applications.

Ask four practical questions

  1. Do you need to edit pixels, vector paths or both?
  2. Must the app run as a desktop installation, or is a browser workflow acceptable?
  3. Which file must the recipient open and keep editing?
  4. Which fonts, plugins, color settings or automation steps are required?

Make a small sample project and check the output in its intended destination. “Supports PSD” is a reason to test a tool, not a substitute for checking the file.

Keep the transition reversible

Retain the original files and your established application until a complete representative workflow succeeds. Compare current official terms and feature documentation before making a paid or team-wide decision.

If PhotoCraft already covers your basic experiment, begin with one small first edit. If your goal is logos or scalable illustrations, explore the vector-focused sibling.
