Crafting Apps

PhotoCraft vs VectorCraft: pixels or paths?

VectorCraft is a sibling application from the ArtCraft team. Its vector focus makes it complementary to PhotoCraft for some projects.

Choose according to the main document

PhotoCraft focuses on image editing with raster content and layers. VectorCraft focuses on vector illustration with paths, shapes and related illustration workflows.

The presence of shape tools in a photo editor does not make its entire workflow interchangeable with a vector application. Similarly, a vector app can include bitmap images without becoming a photo-retouching substitute.

Try a small handoff between tools

Start with a simple icon and a photograph, using duplicate files. Export the icon in a supported format and place it into the image design. Check edges, scale, transparency and whether you can still make the necessary edits.

Keep the original vector document if later revisions require path editing. Keep the image editor’s working file if the photograph and text must remain editable. A final PNG is useful for publishing, but it does not preserve every source workflow.
